At our Carol Celebration on Friday (the day the election result was announced) Simon gave a short sermon on Herod:
"We, too, live in a world where leaders lie routinely to their people, where would-be tyrants seek power at all costs, and where ordinary and vulnerable people have to pay the price of decisions taken by people who don’t care enough about the consequences of their actions.
"We too, live in a world of refugees, of displaced people, of violence towards the innocent, and of protectionism disguised as nationalism.
"And today, with politics riding high on the national agenda, I want to point us to the wisdom of the wise men."
